Measuring Alkalinity in Wastewater Treatment

June 9, 2021

Wastewater treatment plants use physical, chemical and biological processes to implement best practice treatment that complies with local, state and federal regulations. In some plants, alkali must be added to provide the alkalinity level required for effective biological activity and pH control. Accurate alkali measurement is not only important from a treatment and effluent water quality outflow perspective; there are also plant process efficiency, safety, health and cost issues that can arise from poor measurement.
