Man Arrested For Running Treatment Facility Without License

A man from Santa Cruz, Calif., has been arrested for running a wastewater treatment plant without a license.

According to the Monterey County Herald, John Ekizian was arraigned on three misdemeanor charges following an investigation by the State Water Resources Control Board, along with the District Attorney’s office.

The investigation came about after a complaint by a local citizen.

Ekizian is accused of operating and maintaining the San Lucas County Water District’s wastewater treatment plant without having the necessary certification needed by a plant operator. He has been working for 28 months without the license.

If convicted, Ekizian could face charges of six months in jail, $25,000 fine, or both.
