The Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association (ISAWWA) is holding a set of courses on the Red Flag Rule. The events will be held Feb. 5 and May 26 in Norridge, Ill., and Thursday, Feb. 10 in Springfield, Ill.
Attendees will learn the background and history of the Identity Theft Red Flag Rule being promulgated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which is due April 1, 2009. All water utilities are required to comply with this rule.
In addition, the requirements of the rule and the necessary written program will be discussed and attendees will receive templates that will make it easier for water utilities to achieve compliance. Please note that finance department staff from your utility could also benefit from this presentation if water account initiation and the billing process is under their purview.
