IDE Technologies, a joint venture between Israel Chemicals, a subsidiary of The Israel Corp. Group, and the Delek Group, has received a contract from a major industrial client in Australia to design and construct a desalination facility for generating process water.
The desalination plant will use reverse osmosis (RO) technology, similar to that provided by IDE for Israel’s Ashkelon and Hadera desalination plants, to produce 140,000 cu meters of process water per day for the Australian client. IDE said that the project will be one of the most complex desalination endeavors in the world, requiring “more precise and complex treatment” than similar installations elsewhere. The project is “one of the most challenging the company has known, which places IDE in a key position for competing for similar projects in the future,” IDE CEO Avshalom Felber said.
