Mueller Water Products Building Brass Foundry in Decatur, Illinois
Mueller Water Products is building one of the world’s largest modern finished goods brass foundries in Decatur, Illinois. The facility is expected to employ 250 workers to help increase production capacity and meet the growing needs within the water infrastructure industry, according to the press release.
Mueller was founded in Decatur, Illinois in 1857 by German immigrant Hieronymus Mueller, the same city that Mueller was born in.
“We started Mueller here in Decatur in 1857 and have been lucky enough to be in business here for over 160 years, and we are very excited about this groundbreaking and putting this brand-new foundry here in Decatur,” said Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chad Mize. “We believe this investment will allow our organization, as well as the city, to thrive for the next 160 years. This foundry is going to be one of the most modern, state of the art, brass foundries in the world.”
Grundfos Inaugurates Digital Lab in Asia-Pacific
Grundfos inaugurated its digital lab in Singapore, the first of its kind by the industry leader in Asia-Pacific, as part of an initiative to drive greater adoption of intelligent water solutions in the region.
The lab will showcase Grundfos’ range of iSOLUTIONS products.
“Pumps do not exist in isolation. We believe that the key to maximum efficiency is optimising the entire pump system, and not only the pumps. The iSOLUTIONS range aims to optimise energy and water efficiency across the entire system by leveraging connectivity, intelligent monitoring and commissioning wizards,” said Kim Jense, regional managing director of Grundfos Asia-Pacific region.

IWS Partners With Major Water Investment Fund
Integrated Water Services, Inc. (IWS) recently closed a financing deal with Sciens Capital Management LLC, which will provide IWS capital and resources to support its growth and expansion in providing water and wastewater solutions throughout the U.S.
“We are excited to announce our financial partnership with Sciens, which will support our long term strategy of expanding our base offering of DB, CMAR, and construction of water and wastewater treatment systems as well as to grow our MBR Rental and Leasing business,” said David Patton, CEO of IWS.
Dr. Richard E. Thorsten, Robert Puente to Deliver Keynote Addresses at Seventh Emerging Water Technology Symposium
Dr. Richard E. Thorsten, the chief impact officer for water.org and Robert Puente, who has served as president/CEO of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) will be the keynote speakers for the seventh biennial Emerging Water Technology Symposium (EWTS), May 12-13 in San Antonio, Texas.
“The EWTS provides attendees with a unique opportunity to hear from manufacturers, engineers, academia, futurists, policy makers and water efficiency experts,” said Pete DeMarco, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) executive vice president of advocacy and research. “The two-day symposium will address global problems pertaining to the safe delivery and use of water in buildings and the new technologies and strategies that are being developed to keep plumbing systems safe and efficient.”
In addition to the keynote addresses, EWTS attendees will view presentations and discussions on today’s most pressing water-related issues.
Attendees are advised to register early. The early-bird rate of $495 ends Mar. 15.
