AWWA Kicks Off Drinking Water Week

May 2, 2016
Theme of this year's Drinking Water Week (May 1 to 7, 2016) is "Your Water - to Know It is to Love It"

The American Water Works Assn. and water professionals across North America kicked off Drinking Water Week by highlighting the theme “Your Water – to Know It is to Love It”.

Throughout the week, AWWA and the water community will celebrate Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives and the quality of life we enjoy because of it. Focus will be placed on ways in which water consumers can get to know and value their water supply and local water utility during this special week.

“AWWA and the water community have joined together for several decades to celebrate an important event in our industry, and that’s Drinking Water Week,” said AWWA Chief Executive Officer David LaFrance. “We look forward to Drinking Water Week each year to assist consumers in understanding and appreciating their local water supply and water utility.”

To commemorate the week, water utilities, state agencies, environmental advocates and other interested groups will celebrate drinking water through school events, public presentations, staff events and community festivals. They will also provide their communities with vital information on how water consumers can understand and appreciate their water.
