Toray Membrane USA, Inc. Finalizes Consolidation

April 25, 2016
Move follows acquisition of Woongjin Chemical Company

On April 1, 2016, Toray Membrane USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Toray Industries, completed the acquisition of TCK Membrane America Inc. (manufacturer of CSM RO/NF membranes in Anaheim, Calif.). This move follows the acquisition of Woongjin Chemical Company (now known as “Toray Chemical Korea, Inc.” and the previous parent company of TCK Membrane America) by Toray Industries in May 2014.

“We are pleased to be able to join with the staff in Anaheim to bring the CSM line of products into our portfolio of membrane products. This will greatly expand our market coverage beyond our traditional areas of business,” said Steve Cappos, CEO of Toray Membrane USA.

The combination of the two companies will increase the value of RO/NF products to customers as membrane manufacturing and support has expanded to include the facility located in Anaheim, Calif. The facility in Poway, Calif. will continue to manufacture 8-in. and 4-in. RO elements, MBR, UF, and specialty membranes (dairy applications), while the facility in Anaheim, Calif. will continue to manufacture RO/NF membranes for residential and commercial applications under the brand name “CSM”. This acquisition projects that the global RO market share of Toray Membrane USA will grow substantially.
