Val-Matic Announces New President and CEO

John Ballun joined the company in 1995

Val-Matic Valve and Mfg. Corp. announced that John V. Ballun, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will succeed Ted Makowan as president and CEO.  Ballun joined Val-Matic in 1995 as vice president of engineering and previously worked in various engineering management roles at other valve manufacturing companies. Over his career, he has published numerous articles on valve technology and contributed to several standard development organizations including the American Water Works Assn. (AWWA) and the Manufacturing Standardization Society. Ballun earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University and brings a wealth of industry experience to the position. 

Patricia Nuter will continue to serve as the chairman of the board, executive chairman and treasurer of Val-Matic. Board member Makowan said, “I am very proud of the team we have assembled and feel this team under the direction of Pat Nuter and John Ballun will continue our growth and the pursuit for perfection in everything we do.”  

Val-Matic Valve and Mfg. Corp.’s headquarters is located in Elmhurst, Ill., with additional manufacturing facilities in Addison, Ill. for a total of over 177,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space. Val-Matic manufactures air valves, check valves, and quarter turn shut-off valves for water and wastewater, power, industrial, fire protection and HVAC applications.
