CH2M's Bruce Johnson Named International Water Association Fellow

Johnson has more than 26 years of water and wastewater industry experience

CH2M’s Bruce Johnson was recently named an IWA Fellow by the International Water Association (IWA) for his distinguished career and contributions to the water profession.

The IWA Fellow Program recognizes extraordinary individuals within the community of water professionals and enlists their commitment and skills in advancing the knowledge and practice of water management through IWA. As an IWA Fellow, Johnson will serve as IWA’s ambassador and help generate innovative and sustainable solutions to address our global water challenges.

With more than 26 years of experience operating, troubleshooting and designing water and wastewater treatment plants and equipment, Johnson is an expert in modeling and designing wastewater treatment facilities and has made a lasting impact on the wastewater profession through the high end application of wastewater simulation to advanced waste treatment design. He holds five patents in wastewater technologies and has authored/coauthored more than 25 technical papers on the subject.

Johnson joined CH2M in 1995 and is based at the firm’s headquarters in Denver, Colo. Prior, Johnson worked at EIMCO Process Equipment Company, from 1988 to 1995, where he developed, troubleshot and piloted a variety of solid-liquid separation equipment. He graduated from Clemson University with his masters in Environmental Systems Engineering in 1988 and received his bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 1986. 

An active member of IWA since 2001, Johnson was a founding member of IWA’s Design and Operations Uncertainty Task Group. He also served as chair of the joint IWA/Water Environment Federation (WEF) WWTMod2012 Wastewater Treatment Modeling Seminar in 2012.
