Award honors individuals, businesses for contributions to Florida's economic development

BCR Environmental Corporation (BCR), a company focusing on technologies for the treatment and conversion of wastewater and organic waste, announced that President and CEO Aaron Zahn was awarded the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award by Florida Governor Rick Scott at Connect Florida’s Day at the Capital 2016 event.

Zahn has counseled the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency World Health Organization, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and state and local leaders on the economic and environmental impacts of innovation in wastewater and organic waste infrastructure. Under his leadership, BCR has attracted more than $40 million of corporate private equity investment to Florida and completed over $180 million in public-private partnerships. The partnerships have reduced the annual operating costs for city’s sludge management by an average of 40%, eliminated more than 18,000 megawatts per year of energy consumption, addressed environmental issues such as nutrient pollution reduction, and provided for 500,000 tons per year of biosolids and organics waste recycling.
