IWE Istanbul Water Expo 2016 Announced

Jan. 15, 2016
Trade show will bring together players of the water & wastewater treatment technologies industry

IWE Istanbul Water Expo 2016 will be held at Istanbul Expo Center from September 1 to 3, 2016. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their latest solutions and products, meet with decision-makers in the industry, enter new markets and gain new investment opportunities.

EUF International Trade Fairs, an ITE Turkey group company that has been organizing trade fairs for industries in Turkey, will be organizing the IWE Istanbul Water Expo—the 2nd Istanbul Water and Wastewater Treatment Technologies Exhibition and Conference—at Istanbul Expo Center. By emphasizing the importance of water and wastewater treatment mainly in Turkey and the rest of the world, it will bring together the latest smart water solutions for sustainable living under one roof.

“By bringing together the latest technologies and novelties of the sector, we offer a major platform for the exhibiting companies and visitors alike,” said Tülin Bozkurt Bulut, director of IWE Istanbul Water Expo. “This year, alongside exhibition, we’ll be holding a conference called ‘Smart Water Solutions,’ and we believe that with this conference, we will be contributing to the efforts for growth and globalization of the sector and increase public awareness regarding water use in our country, where water resources are limited.

“According to [the] World Bank report titled Sustainable Development Goals, ‘water security’ ranks as number one among global risks. The report foresees a 40% decrease in the usable water amounts until 2030 and a 15% increase in global water consumption with the world population expected to reach 9 billion by 2050. The report also indicates that 2.4 billion people across the world use untreated water and 700 million people don’t have access to clean water. In the coming years, over 7% decrease is anticipated in the GDPs of countries that don’t have access to ‘usable water’ resources.”

According to the European Union Environmental Compliance Strategy Report, initial investment and renovation costs for drinking water treatment facilities and networks will be 23.6 billion TL between 2007 and 2023, and three times the initial investment costs will be required for renovation projects.

“Due to rapid increase in population and careless water consumption in our country, and global warming, we are depleting our water resources rapidly,” Bulut said. “Investments in water and wastewater facilities should be made faster in order to ensure a clean and sustainable life.”
