Black & Veatch Hires Project Manager

July 1, 2015
Jay Kemp, BCEE, P.E. will be based in the company's Milwaukee office

Black & Veatch has hired Jay Kemp, BCEE, P.E., project manager and senior process engineer to provide energy solutions, including a range of biogas-to-energy service offerings. Kemp is based in the company’s Milwaukee office.

Kemp brings experience in energy-saving wastewater technologies. Strained budgets, outdated systems and regulatory mandates for reduced environmental impacts, among other factors, are placing significant operational pressures on wastewater utilities. Research from Black & Veatch’s 2015 Strategic Directions: U.S. Water Industry Report reveals that these pressures are rewriting the rules of utility investment. It finds increased use of advanced treatment processes that combine efficiency with energy recovery can position utilities to thrive.

As a senior project resource, Kemp will support such opportunities to help utilities reduce their operating costs, gain additional capacity of fixed assets, and generate revenue. Kemp joins the Black & Veatch Water/Energy Services team.

An environmental engineer by training, Kemp brings national project experience to the team. He has served utility and industry clients as a lead engineer, project manager and process designer on a variety of biogas upgrades, including for vehicle fueling systems. He has led the design, managed construction and provided O&M services on wastewater treatment facility and conveyance expansion and upgrade projects across Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. Kemp is widely published and in 2005 was honored by the Water Environment Foundation for his work in wastewater facility design.
