Founder seeks to reward innovation in motor-related technologies

Nidec Corp. announced the creation of the Nagamori Award in an effort to recognize young inventors for problem-solving solutions.

The Nagamori Awards are open to research and development engineers at the entry level to middle-level from universities, public organizations or private companies. Those engineers who demonstrate documented research and development of motors, actuators, power generators and associated technologies are eligible for consideration.

Applicants must be entry to middle-level research and development engineers who are members of a university faculty, public organization or private company located anywhere in the world. An applicant must be recommended for the award by their academic circle or their company supervisor. All applications must be received by Jan. 31, 2015.

The Nagamori Award, which is a monetary reward, will be granted to three to five people annually. The Grand Nagamori Award recipient will be announced at the commendation ceremony scheduled for Aug. 30, 2015 in Kyoto, Japan.
