North American Specialty Products (NASP), a provider of PVC pipe for the water well industry, introduced the industry’s first 24-in. restrained-joint PVC well casing at the annual National Groundwater Assn. (NGWA) conference Dec. 4, 2013 in Nashville, Tenn. The new offering further expands NASP's line of well casing and drop pipe featuring the Certa-Lok mechanical restrained-joint system.

"Recognition for the benefits of restrained-joint PVC in the water well industry continues to grow and we are excited to expand our line of specialty pipe products to larger diameters," said Mark DaSilva, senior product manager of NASP (formerly CertainTeed Corporation’s Pipe & Foundations Group). "The 24-inch well casing with the new PVC coupling will bring the efficiency of the Certa-Lok system to a greater number of projects, helping contractors save time and money."

Certa-Lok utilizes a proprietary spline-locking design to form a full strength joint instantly in all weather conditions without the use of solvents, arc welding or reinforcement screw attachments. The new 24-in. well casing comes in standard 20-ft lengths and is available with a PVC or fiberglass coupling to extend installation depth.

At the NGWA conference, NASP also was recognized as part of the association's annual awards program, with well products national sales manager Mike Benet receiving the Manufacturer's Division Special Recognition Award. The award is given annually to honor an individual’s accomplishments in the groundwater manufacturing industry including industry improvements, special education contributions, and patents and technology.

"Mike is known throughout the well industry as a person of integrity, with a deep commitment to providing top-notch technical service and advice to drillers and pump setters," said Joseph Bondi, vice president and general manager of North American Specialty Products. "He was the person who was most instrumental in the growth and acceptance of modern mechanical spline-lock PVC well products in the industry and has worked tirelessly over the last 20 years to provide training and guidance to new and existing users."
