Control System Integrators Buoyed by Growth in Manufacturing

Integrator members can lead to favorable business conditions

Manufacturing gains in production, employment and new orders as the U.S. economy moves into the fourth quarter have more industry leaders looking to expand capacity and boost efficiency. This is why directors of quality, plant managers and others are increasingly partnering with members of the Control System Integrators Assn. (CSIA) to help them pursue projects that reduce risk and improve their operations.

According to the Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) latest Manufacturing ISM Report on Business, favorable business conditions exist in 11 of 18 manufacturing industries. According to CSIA Executive Director Robert Lowe, those industries marking gains are served by integrator members of CSIA.

“CSIA members have technical know-how that they use to help industry clients automate and integrate their control, test and information systems,” Lowe said. “CSIA’s system integration companies follow CSIA Best Practices and Benchmarks, which help them apply their technical skills to effectively serve end-user clients. CSIA believes both technical and business skills are critical for integrators to successfully implement projects and deliver services.”

Lowe added that CSIA members are also well connected with vendors and other integrators, so additional resources are available to determine the best choice for a client project and then deliver results, from preparing specs and design all the way through the final stages of training and implementation.

“On-the-job experience and the completion of CSIA’s rigorous auditing process enhance the business and project management skills of our CSIA Certified integrators,” says Lowe. “Certified members pursue high standards as they establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients so end-users usually benefit from seeking a certified member.”
