Proposed New York Desalination Plant Faces Review

July 26, 2013

To determine whether a desalination plant is necessary to meet Rockland County’s long-term water supply requirements, the state of New York will review United Water New York’s proposed plans.

According to The Journal News, United Water negotiated a settlement with the state in 2006, requiring it to add to its long-term water supply.

United Water has spent more than $50 million during the approval process for the proposed desalination plant, which will be located in Haverstraw, N.Y.
