Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will speak to more than 2,000 North American water professionals at 9 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 during the opening general session of the American Water Works Assn.’s (AWWA) Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE13) at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
ACE13, which will bring an estimated 11,000 water experts to Denver June 9 to 13, is the longest running water conference in the world, having first convened in 1881. The event features several hundred expert presentations and an exposition of more than 500 companies showcasing the latest innovations in water technology.
In his keynote address, Gov. Hickenlooper will discuss the Colorado Water Plan and other efforts to promote economic development. The opening general session begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Four Seasons Ball Room.
The ACE13 agenda features speakers on hundreds of critical water issues, including conservation and drought management, infrastructure and affordability, desalination and water reuse, emerging contaminants, new treatment solutions, and more.
Hickenlooper, Colorado’s governor since 2011, is well known for his ability to find mutually beneficial solutions among diverse stakeholders. He also served nearly eight years as Mayor of Denver, earning high marks for his innovative and collaborative approach to government. A geologist by training, Gov. Hickenlooper began his public service after opening Denver’s first brewpub and distinguishing himself as a leader in the Colorado business community.
