Walter G. Stein, P.E. to develop more products and services for storm water line

Jensen Precast announced the recent hiring of Walter G. Stein, P.E., civil engineer, to head up their storm water division, Jensen Storm Water BMP/LID Systems. Jensen Storm Water Systems products include those for storm water detention and retention; infiltration (including porous pavement); treatment (trash, debris and pollutant removal); evapotranspiration; and bio-retention.

Stein acquired his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He furthered his education by receiving a Master’s degree in civil engineering from San Jose State University.

Walt brings a multiplicity of experience to the Jensen storm water team. His engineering career began when he served as a combat engineering officer in the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Division based at Fort Ord in California. Post military, Walt was project/design engineer for the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD), San Jose, Calif., for five years. In 1998, Walt accepted a position in project development and project engineering with CDS Technologies Inc. in Morgan Hill, Calif. He was named vice president in 2006. Upon the acquisition of CDS Technologies Inc. by Contech Construction Products, Walt served as vice president of international project development. His accomplishments there included the expansion of the storm water treatment rep network in Canada and in Europe from Italy to Ireland, and negotiating a partnership with Pan-Europe for distribution into the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Great Britain.

In 2010, Stein founded WDD Eng. & Construction, LLC in Simi Valley, Calif., focusing on storm water equipment representation, reinforced concrete design of underground structures, water treatment equipment design and sales, as well as project engineering and consulting services for infrastructure and site development projects.

“We’re pleased to have Walt Stein on board,” says Don Jensen, founder and CEO of Jensen Precast. “We believe his storm water product design experience, and knowledge of the industry, will be invaluable as we develop more products to go along with our existing structures for storm water infiltration; retention; gross solids, fine sediment, oil and grease removal; and rainwater harvesting.”
