Jim Lang of the Konecranes Training Institute is nominated for Crane Innovator of the Year Award

The Assn. of Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) has nominated Jim Lang for its 2013 Crane Innovator of the Year Award, to be given out in June.

The AIST Crane Innovator of the Year Award recognizes the individual who has brought forth the latest in technology, or increased efficiencies in operational and maintenance practices for the continuous improvement of heavy industrial cranes. Coming from one of the most prestigious Steel Mill organizations in the industry, the AIST’s nomination recognizes Lang’s work to increase crane safety.

In his work for the Konecranes Training Institute, Lang spearheaded work on a Crane Accident Analysis study. This examination helps increase crane accident awareness and crane safety for steel mills and factory operations. Lang will again present this study at the 20th Annual AIST Crane Symposium this coming June.

“We all congratulate Jim on his nomination,” said Bernie D’Ambrosi, VP, director, Region Americas Service at Konecranes. “The invaluable work he’s done here at Konecranes reflects our spirit of safety and innovation, and we’re proud to see him recognized for it.”

The winner will be announced in June at the 20th Annual AIST Crane Symposium in Pittsburgh.
