Douglas Brown Rejoins CDM Smith

Brown will serve as the company’s vice president

CDM Smith announced that Douglas R. Brown, P.E., BCEE, has rejoined the firm as vice president. Brown was previously with CDM Smith for 26 years. 

Brown brings 33 years of experience in treatment plants and associated infrastructure design. In that time he has participated in the design and evaluation of more than 40 microfiltration and reverse osmosis membrane systems, including design for the first large-scale municipal potable water microfiltration system in the United States.

Brown is also a nationally recognized researcher in high-recovery reverse osmosis systems. He has implemented a variety of technologies including ion exchange, conventional coagulation and filtration, activated carbon filters and brine minimization processes.

His primary technical responsibilities at CDM Smith will include the development of the process design and control strategies along with evaluation of the hydraulics and piping associated with water treatment facilities. Brown’s project roles have included project manager for municipal projects, technical lead and design manager for design-build projects.

Douglas Brown will be based in the firm’s Denver office.
