In-conduit Hydroelectric Turbines Receive NSF Certification

March 27, 2013
LucidPipe Power Systems has been tested & certified by NSF Intl. to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use in potable water systems

Lucid Energy announced that the company’s flagship LucidPipe Power System in-conduit hydroelectric turbines are now NSF Certified.

The LucidPipe 42-in. and 24-in. turbines were tested and certified by NSF Intl .to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 and are now approved for installation in potable water systems. The turbines, which operate inside of large-diameter pipelines, spin as fast-moving water passes through them, producing a consistent, environmentally friendly and non-weather-dependent source of renewable energy.

NSF Intl. is an independent, not-for-profit organization that is widely recognized for its scientific and technical expertise in the health and environmental sciences. Receiving NSF Certification is a significant achievement, as drinking water standards in the United States are among the strictest in the world.

“NSF Certification is important for us because it enables us to assure our customers that the LucidPipe Power System is ready for widespread deployment in municipal drinking water systems,” said Gregg Semler, president and CEO of Lucid Energy. “NSF is recognized by leading water agencies throughout the world. We are extremely excited that we can now offer the systems on a global basis to water agencies seeking ways to reduce costs, lower carbon emissions and reduce reliance on grid-based power by using their existing water infrastructure to generate cost-effective renewable energy.”
