Report outlines events and suggestions for future preparedness

The American Water Works Assn. has announced the publication of a new report from the Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (WARN) detailing the water sector’s response to Superstorm Sandy in fall 2012.

The report, titled “WARN Superstorm Sandy After-Action Report,” represents an aggregation of successes and challenges based on observations gathered directly from impacted utilities, WARNs and other partners in the water sector and details the key takeaways following the event.

“This report offers a straightforward assessment of what happened during Sandy and what can be done to make us better prepared in the future,” said AWWA Security and Preparedness Manager Kevin Morley, principal author of the report. “Collective action on the items listed in this report at the local, state and federal levels will make our sector more resilient and prepared for future events.”

Additional information about the report and the WARN Network are available on the WARN website.
