Diverse Group to Discuss 'One Water' Management in Nation's Capital

Jan. 30, 2012

Professionals will meet Feb. 10 in Washington, D.C., to discuss integrated water management

The Clean Water America Alliance will host an array of leaders on Feb. 10, 2012, at the Dupont Hotel in Washington, D.C., to discuss moving toward sustainable integrated water management. More than 70 participants were carefully selected to reflect multiple disciplines and geography with interests representing the common silos, such as energy, agriculture and business.

“We view this meeting as an opportunity to solidify our understanding and collaboration toward an integrated, holistic approach to watershed management,” Alliance President Ben Grumbles said. “This is a chance to explore gaps, policy, priorities and research needs while planning the next step forward.”

In cooperation with the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), the Alliance is seeking to organize a coalition and explore consensus on a memorandum of understanding, which maps action steps towards common goals for integrated water management, or what the Alliance refers to as One Water Management.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Acting Assistant Administrator for Water Nancy Stoner will be the kick-off speaker with words of support by the agency. Commissioner Howard Neukrug from Philadelphia will inspire thinking by sharing his vision for One Water Management. WERF also will present their proposed research plans and seek feedback for priorities and actions.
