NanoH2O Inc., manufacturer of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for seawater desalination, announced that its QuantumFluxTM RO membrane has received the 2011 Aquatech Innovation Award in the water supply category.
The company and four other category winners were announced at the opening ceremony of this year’s Aquatech Amsterdam Exhibition held last week in the Netherlands.
About 50 companies were considered across five categories: water supply, water treatment, process control and automation, transport and storage, and innovation not to market yet. The expert panel judged the entries based on various criteria, including product originality, feasibility and sustainability.
The proven field performance and commercial availability of the company's membranes served as key factors in the selection process. An additional winning factor was the company's capability to produce significant volumes of the membrane's flat sheet and spiral-wound elements for a global customer base at its vertically integrated manufacturing facility in Los Angeles.
“We are extremely honored to have been awarded the Aquatech Innovation award in the water supply category and to be recognized alongside other innovators in the water treatment industry,” NanoH20 CEO Jeff Green said. “Our QuantumFlux membranes continue to provide our customers with greater system productivity and energy savings.”
