The Ann Arbor Business Review announced NSF International as the 2007 Company of the Year. NSF is a non-profit testing and certification organization committed to providing public health protection worldwide.

This year, NSF acquired two companies in the U.K.–CMi and David Begg Associates (DBA)--expanding NSF's public health services in the food, biotech and pharmaceutical industries. CMi specializes in food safety auditing, while DBA provides high quality training and auditing solutions to the pharmaceutical industry. The acquisitions resulted in 200 additional employees and an increased presence in Europe.

NSF recently doubled its laboratory space and created 100 additional jobs in Ann Arbor, Mich. to accommodate increased product testing requests. With the recent product recalls and increased product safety concerns, the new laboratories and staff have helped expedite the testing of products from overseas.

According to Lawlor, "The recent expansion enables NSF to successfully compete in the global bio-tech industry. We are at the forefront of addressing critical public health issues, including protection of food and drinking water supplies, certification of sports nutrition and dietary supplement products and the development of standards for environmentally friendly products."

Crain's Detroit Business also recently voted NSF International as one of the coolest places to work. The “cool places to work” program rewards companies that promote teamwork, encourage creativity and provide great benefits. NSF was recognized for its innovation, flexible hours and training opportunities.
