HDR Acquires PHAROS Corporation

HDR, a leading architecture-engineering-consulting firm, has acquired PHAROS Corporation, a real estate and right-of-way consulting firm based in Edmonds, Wash. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Going forward, PHAROS will conduct business as HDR/PHAROS.

PHAROS employs 70 professionals and provides real estate and right-of-way services for highways, transit, railroad, airport, and utility projects throughout the United States. With offices in Washington, Texas and Oklahoma, the company has expanded using a business model of local employees who are sensitive to community issues and skilled in project management, planning, negotiations, relocations, and data management. Clients include BNSF Railway Company, state departments of transportation, Port of Seattle, Sound Transit, and Puget Sound Energy.

Under the new corporate structure, Judith Shulman, current PHAROS president, will be a senior vice president and director of HDR’s right-of-way program. Jay Larson, executive vice president at PHAROS, will be a vice president.

Founded in 1989, PHAROS Corporation provides real estate consulting and right-of-way services to government, public agencies, railroads, and utility companies. It is recognized throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationally for right-of-way and project management services.
