The City of Wilsonville, Ore., and the Tualatin Valley Water District have awarded USFilter Operating Services a five-year contract, with a five-year renewal option, to operate and maintain its new 15 million gallons per day (MGD) Willamette River water treatment plant. The contract is valued at $5.5 million.
"Our pledge to provide Wilsonville with a safe, reliable and long-term water supply is evident in the new Willamette River treatment plant," said Wilsonville Director of Public Works Jeff Bauman. "Throughout the planning, design and construction phases of the project, we have been committed to providing potable water that attains levels of purity even stricter than required by federal and state drinking water standards. And now, with USFilter on board, we have a nationally-recognized firm with the experience and expertise to operate this facility in a way that achieves these standards of excellence."Currently under construction, the city’s $49 million water treatment facility is scheduled for completion in April 2002. Until then, USFilter will help prepare the city for startup by reviewing overall processes and the installation of equipment, as well as establishing its six-person operations team.
The City of Wilsonville has relied on well water to meet its water supply needs. But, with a growing population and the expansion of local industry, it needed to look at other sources. The city decided building its own treatment plant was the best option. In the summer of 2000, Wilsonville and the Tualatin Valley Water District began construction on the plant.
"Wilsonville selected the Willamette River as its main water source because it was the best option for a reliable, cost-effective and long-term water supply," said Chibby Alloway, western service center vice president, USFilter Operating Services. "Wilsonville’s city council members are making forward-thinking decisions for the betterment of the city, and we are proud to be a part of the team. This project is a model for other small communities to follow.""With each of our community partnerships, USFilter customizes solutions to meet water needs and provides access to the latest technology and best staffing expertise available in the industry. We are committed to maintaining and exceeding expectations for operating compliant, safe and cost-efficient facilities," added Ron P. Davis, executive vice president and general manager, USFilter Operating Services. Source: USFilter
