Peter J. Moerbeek Named President and CEO of Southwest Water Contract Operations Subsidiary

Southwest Water Co. has named Peter J. Moerbeek the president and chief executive officer of its wholly owned contract operations subsidiary, ECO Resources Inc.

Moerbeek has been the chief operating officer of Texas-based ECO Resources since January 1997.

Anton C. Garnier, Southwest Water president and CEO, said: "The water industry is entering a challenging period of change and opportunity. Under Pete’s leadership, ECO Resources has made major contributions to our profitability in each of the last two years.

"We believe that ECO Resources is now positioned to become the growth engine of Southwest Water and take full advantage of the emerging industry opportunities."

Commenting on his appointment, Moerbeek said: "I look forward to continuing to grow ECO Resources. We currently serve over 125 clients in four states by performing municipal public works functions, including operation of water and wastewater utilities."

Moerbeek continued: "Our employees have won state and national industry awards, both as individual operators and as part of an operations team. We believe that our level of service, our responsiveness to all of our customers and our flexibility in meeting their requirements make ECO a premier contract operations company.

Moerbeek, 51, who joined Southwest Water in August 1995 as vice president -- finance and chief financial officer, will retain his parent-company responsibilities as CFO.
