Parsons, in a joint venture with AECOM, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) to provide program management services for the estimated $7 billion San Francisco Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP).
Parsons and AECOM will work with SFPUC to bring to fruition an upgraded, reliable and functional sewer system in compliance with regulatory agencies—and using sustainable operations.
Under this 15-year contract, Parsons and AECOM will work on multiple projects throughout San Francisco. Parsons’ scope of work includes program planning and administration, implementation, technical support, program controls, and preconstruction management and planning.
Parsons was selected for this contract based on experience and a committed world-class professional team, a collaborative community outreach program and technical knowledge. The project includes delivering a modernized collection and treatment system that meets current seismic standards, emphasizes sustainability and adapts to changing climate conditions. The project will implement the latest proven technology while meeting proposed and anticipated regulatory requirements and environmental objectives.
When completed, the SSIP will provide the community with a sustainable sewer system and treatment plants, incorporating the latest technologies and green designs. This project will add value to the neighboring communities through increased education and environmental awareness, workforce development, job training, boosting the communities’ economic vibrancy.
