ECOfluid Systems Inc. announced that construction is nearly complete on the advanced wastewater treatment plant that will serve the Osoyoos Indian Band’s new Senkulmen Enterprise Park in Oliver, British Columbia, Canada.
The park and the wastewater plant design incorporate environmentally advanced features including solar power generation and high-quality effluent discharge to constructed wetlands. The plant is based around ECOfluid’s proprietary USBF technology, which allows for efficient and economical Biological Nutrient Removal. Sub-systems include a rotary drum screen, drum microscreen filtration and an open-channel UV disinfection system. The entire process is automatic and SCADA monitored/controlled, reducing operators’ direct onsite input requirements. The controls and process equipment are housed in a state-of-the-art building with architecturally defined native features.
The facility will discharge Class A effluent to constructed wetlands: BOD5, TSS and total nitrogen of respectively less than 10, 10 and 20 mg/L, turbidity less than 2 NTU and fecal coliform of less than 2.2/100 mL. It will be operated by local operators, including the Band’s operator trainees, with ECOfluid operators’ monitoring oversight and assistance. Two Band operator trainees are currently attending ECOfluid managed training course.
The park will be developed in phases and, as such, the design allows for the future incremental plant expansion. The initial capacity of 200 cu meters per day will be expanded in three future stages, each sized for an average daily flow of approximately 200 cu meters to an ultimate future average daily capacity of 800 cu meters.
