DeZURIK Inc. Acquires APCO Willamette

Company hopes to expand its capabilities with addition of APCO product lines

DeZURIK Inc., of Sartell, Minn., reached a definitive agreement to acquire APCO Willamette, a producer of check valves, air valves and American Water Works Assn. ball valves effective today.

Under terms of the asset purchase agreement, DeZURIK will acquire all APCO products and production capability. APCO operations will continue in their present facilities, which include a manufacturing plant in Schaumburg, Ill., and a sales office in San Clemente, Calif. The APCO and Willamette names will be retained as brands of DeZURIK Inc. Consolidated business operations will be directed from DeZURIK corporate headquarters in Sartell.

According to DeZURIK, the APCO acquisition represents a major strategic expansion its capability in serving the water markets by adding APCO valve products and market experience to the its line of plug, butterfly and knife gate valves. Both DeZURIK and APCO have international experience, providing the opportunity for expanded global market participation.

With a company history dating back more than 100 years, APCO has pioneered valve and hydraulics technology in the control of critical pumping and piping systems. APCO products complement the DeZURIK valve line on shutoff and flow control applications where the two product lines are commonly used together in water treatment plants, piping systems and industrial plants to assure efficiency and reliable process operation.

The acquisition is targeted to provide improved economy on the DeZURIK and APCO product range through the combining of technology and resources in the manufacturing, engineering and service capability of both companies. Consolidated operating strategies are expected to improve efficiency in product manufacturing and sourcing in order to maintain a competitive and customer directed business philosophy that has characterized both APCO and DeZURIK operations throughout their history. The synergy created by the complementary nature of DeZURIK and APCO products and operations provides further strategic growth opportunity through joint product and business development programs.
