Company works with OSHA to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognized Milliken Valve LLC with its Star worksite designation, the highest honor in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

Located in the Lehigh Valley Industrial Park in Bethlehem Township, Pa., Milliken Valve is a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products Inc., a North American provider of water infrastructure products and services.

OSHA’s Star designation recognizes employers and employees in private industry and federal agencies that have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below National Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries. Through the VPP, Milliken Valve and OSHA work cooperatively and proactively to prevent injuries, illnesses and fatalities through hazard prevention and control, worksite analysis, training, management and worker involvement.

“We are honored to receive OSHA’s Star certification,” said Bob Jackson, president of Milliken Valve. “Focusing on creating and maintaining a safe environment is a priority. Our employees have embraced the program and collectively we have designed and implemented a safety program that has made Milliken a safer and better place to work.”

The company plans to hold a VPP ceremony on April 6, during which OSHA will present the Star award and flag to Milliken Valve.
