Sensus will present at the 2011 North Carolina Smart Grid Technical Forum hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Matt Zafuto, vice president of strategic alliances and global business development for Sensus, will present as part of an industry panel on advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and smart metering programs.

“This event brings state business and academic leaders together with the U.S. Department of Energy, and recognizes North Carolina as a leader for smart grid research and development,” Zafuto said. “Sensus is one of many North Carolina companies helping to harness the potential of the smart grid for economic expansion while improving energy and water efficiency.”

The forum, hosted by the North Carolina A&T State University Center for Energy Research and Technology, will take place March 16 in Greensboro, N.C. and will provide a rare occasion for leaders in utilities management, academia and federal, state and local governments to explore how the combined efforts of academic research and industry-developed solutions are advancing power grid technologies.

Zafuto will team up with executives from Elster and Itron to provide an industry perspective on AMI and smart metering programs. Gilbert Campbell, president of Volt Energy, will moderate the session.

Other sessions will include representatives from North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Progress Energy, Duke Energy, Piedmont Electric Membership Corp., IBM, Eaton Corp., Celgard, Power Secure and Consert.
