German Water Partnership Celebrates Success with Booth at IFAT ENTSORGA

Sept. 24, 2010
Delegations from many countries met to discuss common water issues

The association of German water industry, science and politics, German Water Partnership (GWP), presented itself with a highly frequented booth at this year’s IFAT ENTSORGA, the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials in Munich, Germany, Sept. 13 to 17. The umbrella organization united 17 member companies exhibiting at the booth. It also offered a daily forum program with presentations covering a large number of internationally relevant water issues. In addition, GWP organised or contributed to other events such as workshops and “country specials” at the fair. More than 100 additional members of the association presented their innovations at separate booths at the fair.

A large number of delegations from GWP’s focus countries (Croatia, Bulgaria, Russia, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Morocco and Tunisia) visited GWP at the fair to strengthen ties and advance cooperation. The members of the Iran Section of GWP signed cooperation agreements with two groups of decision makers for the water sector in Iran following a German-Iranian workshop organized by GWP. At the GWP joint booth, the delegations from abroad discussed common projects face to face with their German partners.

The members of GWP, export-oriented players of the German water sector, offer adapted, integrated and innovative solutions in water and wastewater management to international clients and partners. The association was initiated in April 2008 and celebrated its foundation with a stand at the IFAT 2008 in Munich, which was inaugurated by the Federal Minister of the Environment.

Today, the network assembles enterprises and research institutes of the German water sector along the entire value chain and is supported by five federal ministries. It provides a central contact address for water issues for foreign partners and clients. According to GWP, its 300 member companies and institutes and their 16 country-specific sections are performing an impressive number and spectrum of activities in the target countries. Additional working groups focus on issues like capacity development or industrial water management.
