Long Island American Water President Reappointed Chairman of NAWC New York Chapter

William M. Varley was selected for a second two-year term

Long Island American Water announced that its president, William M. Varley, was re-appointed as chairman of the New York Chapter of the National Assn. of Water Companies (NAWC), which represents all aspects of the private water service industry. This will be his second two-year term.

“I am honored to be appointed once again as chairman of the New York Chapter of the NAWC to accomplish goals that will help promote the value of the private water sector for quality, sustainable service and innovative solutions,” said Varley. “I am excited to continue my previous initiatives, as well as create new ones, such as implementing college scholarship programs and launching a new website.”

Varley’s accomplishments during his last term include creating workshops, employing a speaker’s bureau to address issues facing the industry and successfully developing and implementing a “Value of Water” consumer education campaign. Under his leadership, the New York Chapter of NAWC also provided operator training certified by New York state for continuing education units.

Rose Simpson of Long Island American Water also was elected as secretary of the New York Chapter of NAWC. She will be responsible for coordinating events and tracking initiatives put forward by the board, as well as maintaining and growing the membership base.

Long Island American Water, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Water, is the largest water supplier in Nassau County, providing high-quality and reliable water services to more than 240,000 people.
