Shearer Tanks Completes Two San Jose Water Projects

Two glass-fused-to-steel tanks were installed ahead of schedule

Shearer Tanks, a division of Shearer & Associates Inc., completed the Rainbow’s End tank in Cupertino, Calif., and the Branham Lane tank in San Jose, Calif., under budget and ahead of schedule. Both tanks were installed through Lewis & Tibbitts, general contractor, and engineered by San Jose Water.

“We bid these two tanks at the end of March, and completed our work ahead of schedule with zero defects,” said Rod Shearer, president of Shear Tanks. “San Jose Water was able to fill the tanks on time and start delivering water to their customers. We made sure we completed these projects right the first time and wrapped up both tanks ahead of schedule.”

The tanks are a part of San Jose’s municipal upgrade. Both jobs were Fusion Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks. Rainbow’s End was a 60,000-gal. tank, and Branham was 104,000 gal. Their selection followed careful technical and engineering consideration, and was based on their service life, low maintenance and reduced capital costs.

“When you do the cost benefit analysis, glass-fused-to-steel tanks make the most economic sense,” said Ryan Kreider of Lewis & Tibbitts. “Plus, Shearer was able to get right on installation of these jobs.”
