Biowater Technology AS announced its new location in Cumberland, R.I. Biowater Technology is a company in business since 2007, run by personnel specializing in the field of biological fixed film processes for water and wastewater treatment.

”We feel we have a very strong team within the field of biofilm technologies,” said Terje Andersen, CEO of Biowater. ”We are happy to be in North America because it gives us the best possible base to continue the development of new and exciting technologies that will save energy and increase the need for water reuse in a very cost-effective way. More details around these new and exciting developments will be presented at WEFTEC in New Orleans as well as IFAT in Germany.”

Biowater’s products include CFAS (Combined Fixed Film Activated Sludge) and CFIC (Continuous Flow Intermittent Cleaning), which will lead to a reduction of energy consumption in the system of at least 20 to 30%, according to the company. The processes are feasible for all types of wastewater: industrial and municipal, and are used for organic removal, nitrification and denitrification. The systems can be delivered combined with activated sludge to meet nitrification requirements.

According to the company, benefits of the systems include compactness, flexible design, ease of operation, low capital cost, highly-efficient biofilm, ability to easily retrofit, elimination of sludge return and low operational costs.
