Insituform Awarded $5.2 Million Sewer Rehabilitation Contract

Company to rehabilitate more than 24,000 ft of wastewater pipelines

Insituform Technologies Inc. announced it has received a $5.2-million contract from the Macon Water Authority in Macon, Ga. to rehabilitate more than 24,000 ft of wastewater pipelines. This award, Insituform’s largest single project with the Macon Water Authority, includes 9,500 ft of 54-in. pipelines located in Central City Park.

In addition to the wastewater pipelines located in Central City Park, Insituform will also rehabilitate nearly 15,000 ft of 21-in.- and 24-in.-diameter pipelines with its cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) solution in Macon. Insituform CIPP rehabilitates pipelines, reduces infiltration, restores structural integrity and increases flow capacity without disruption to communities, typically at a lower cost than dig and replace solutions, the company said.

“Insituform was able to successfully design a project where we could meet the Authority’s requirements to schedule installations in drier, winter months and complete the Central City Park project before the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Spring,” said Jim Newkirk, general manager for Insituform’s East Region. “We will renew the Authority’s infrastructure with minimal disruption to the community while managing minority-owned subcontractors during this project.”

It is expected that Insituform will begin work on this project in September and complete the work in approximately 12 months.
