The Water Environment Federation (WEF) announced the launch of a redesigned website for WEFTEC, the organization’s annual technical conference and exhibition. Complete with a new look and features, the site--www.weftec.org--aims to make it easier than ever to create and plan the educational experience at WEFTEC.
The newly designed website is part of a larger two-phase Internet project to increase access to science, engineering and technical practices in the water quality field. At the core of this project was a redesign of WEF’s primary website--www.wef.org--which was launched late last year.
“WEF remains committed to meeting the needs of our members and the overall water profession,” said WEF President Paul Freedman. “The newly designed WEF and WEFTEC websites will allow us to better serve you by providing an easy-to-use tool for delivering and receiving the latest in water quality education, information, resources, business and networking opportunities.”
Devoted exclusively to WEF’s annual conference and exhibition, the revised WEFTEC website provides information on all aspects of the event, including the technical program, workshops, seminars, facility tours, committee meetings, events and the annual water quality exhibition. Designed to meet the needs of all visitors, the website also features a clearer navigation scheme and a more robust search engine with an advanced search function.
As an added service to attendees, WEF has also improved the WEFTEC Personal Planner. A popular feature over the past few years, the My WEFTEC Planner allows users to create their own complimentary conference schedule that can be printed, downloaded and saved as a Word/CSV file, or saved online in a personalized account that can be accessed and updated both before and during the event.
Other notable updates include an interactive calendar with upcoming deadlines; an improved WEFTEC exhibitor directory and search function; an increased focus on WEFTEC’s global business opportunities and official publications; a photo gallery from past WEFTECs; and a homepage slide show that highlights the five main reasons water quality professionals from around the world attend WEFTEC each year: education, exhibition, events, exploration and networking.
Featuring 112 technical sessions, 35 workshops and six local facility tours, WEFTEC 2010--WEF’s 83rd annual technical exhibition and conference--will take place Oct. 2 to 6, 2010, at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
