Successful pursuit of a strategic opportunity in the U.K. has put Black & Veatch in a position to serve Bristol Water for the next five years. Black & Veatch is one of two framework partners chosen by Bristol Water to provide design consultancy services associated with the water company’s Asset Management Plan (AMP) 5 Capital Investment Program 2010 to 2015.

The appointment extends Black & Veatch’s successful relationship with Bristol Water through AMP4 and advances its position as one of the utility’s Tier 1 service providers in AMP5. In addition, the agreement affords the water company the possibility of retaining Black & Veatch’s services as framework partner for its subsequent five-year investment period, AMP6, which extends from 2015 to 2020.

The AMP5 Design Consultancy framework will be split into two work programs for infrastructure and non-infrastructure works. Black & Veatch will be offering feasibility and outline design as well as ecological and environmental services, and specialist services such as GIS, hydraulics and asset management.

Bristol Water's AMP5 capital program will invest in new and existing infrastructure associated with the supply of 300 million liters of drinking water each day to 1.1 million customers in Bristol and the surrounding area in southwest England. Security and quality of supply will be improved through investment in new and improved water sources, treatment and distribution networks within the region, according to Black & Veatch.
