As the largest water quality conference in North America and largest annual water quality exhibition in the world, WEFTEC continues to offer educational, business and networking opportunities in the water profession. This year’s technical program will feature 112 technical sessions, 35 workshops and six local facility tours. A wide range of topics and focus areas allow attendees to design their own unique learning experience while earning up to 35 contact hours for continuing education units and nine professional development hours.

The 2010 focus areas include collection systems, instrumentation and automation, industrial issues and treatment technology/microconstituents, research, residuals and biosolids management, sustainability/energy conservation, utility management, water reclamation and reuse, watershed issues, and more. As a complement to the technical program, WEFTEC’s exhibition will provide access to more than 900 exhibiting companies and the latest developments, research, regulations, solutions and cutting-edge technologies in the field.

Other conference highlights will include the Opening General Session that will feature Steven Solomon, economics journalist and author of the best-selling book, Water: The Epic Struggle for Wealth, Power and Civilization; the Students & Young Professionals’ “Bioswales in the Bayou” community service project that will construct a bioswale in one of the neighborhoods still recovering from Hurricane Katrina; poster sessions; the design competition; the 23rd annual Operations Challenge competition and more.
