Aqua-Aerobic Systems Partners With San Antonio Water Systems on Treatment Plant Expansions

Feb. 26, 2010
Projects to replace aged, traveling bridge sand filters with pile cloth media filter technology

Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of pile cloth media filtration technology, has partnered with San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) on two wastewater treatment plant expansions that will replace aged, traveling bridge sand filters with new, more efficient pile cloth media filter technology.

Ten AquaDiamond pile cloth media filters will be installed at the Dos Rios plant, increasing the average capacity from 50 million gal per day (mgd) to 120 mgd. Three additional AquaDiamond filters will also be installed at the Leon Creek plant, increasing its average capacity from 15 mgd to 36 mgd.

The AquaDiamond filters at both plants are scheduled to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2010. This project is one of the largest wastewater filtration projects in Texas. The project solution is a collaboration between Aqua-Aerobic Systems; CP&Y, Inc., consulting engineers; and construction by Pepper Lawson Construction.

An official project award was presented to Aqua-Aerobic Systems at Pepper Lawson's corporate office in Houston with local Aqua-Aerobic representative, Hartwell Environmental, also in attendance.
