U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will join Ohio First Lady Frances Strickland and other Ohio officials for an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act announcement in Columbus on Thursday, Feb. 18--the day after the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Recovery Act.

Ohio has spent more than $5.4 billion in Recovery Act funds, saving or creating 79,000 jobs in 2009. More than 4.5 million working families in Ohio will also receive a total of $2.2 billion in tax relief.

The state of Ohio leads the nation in the number of water projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The EPA said these projects have created and saved jobs while improving water quality and infrastructure across the state.
