Norit Mobile Water Treatment Systems to Provide Relief in Haiti

Company supplying seven compact water treatment systems

Norit X-Flow in partnership with PWN is supplying seven Perfector-E compact water treatment systems, capable of producing a total of nearly 90,000 gal of reliable drinking water per day, to the residents of Haiti. Each Perfector-E unit has its own filtration system utilizing a combination of Norit X-Flow ultrafiltration (UF) membranes and UV light sterilization. PWN is a water company located in the northern part of The Netherlands and is a worldwide trendsetter in new water treatment technologies. Norit X-Flow, part of the Norit Group, is headquartered in The Netherlands with its North American sales office located outside of Chicago. Norit X-Flow is a provider of membrane ultrafiltration (UF) that is used in municipal water treatment plants.

Each Perfector-E unit is a plug-and-play system powered by a generator. Using the equipped submersible pump, water is taken from the source and is fed directly into the Perfector-E unit. A pre-filter strainer removes larger particles from the feed water. From there the water is filtered through Norit X-Flow’s UF membranes, which remove suspended solids including viruses and bacteria. The UV light acts as a secondary barrier to protect against contaminants.

PWN and Norit X-Flow originally developed and deployed the Perfector-E immediately after the 2004 tsunami in Asia.

Six PWN engineers, who were trained by Norit, are accompanying the units to assure that they will run properly and assist with the dispensing of water to the Haiti victims.
