Nov. 23, 2009

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will join federal, state and local officials for the groundbreaking of Edmonston, Md.’s Recovery Act-funded “green street” project on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 12:00 p.m.

The Town of Edmonston was awarded $1.1 million in Recovery Act funding from the EPA to control storm water runoff from its main street. The town is also taking other steps to make the street environmentally responsible, including the installation of energy efficient streetlights and accommodations for walkers and bikers.

The administrator will also tour a section of the street that is to be completely transformed by this project.
