LT Technologies, a manufacturer and designer of advanced water purification, filtration and chemical treatment systems, recently announced that it was selected to develop and manufacture a high-capacity water purification system for the U.S. Navy.
The LT Technologies water system will provide 500,000 gal of clean, potable water per day at a strategic military facility located in East Africa. The base serves as a forward location for anti-terrorism, anti-piracy and other strategic activities. Installation of the system is now under way and will be followed by testing. The system is expected to be online by the end of 2009.
The project was undertaken for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC). LT Technologies was selected as the water systems subcontractor as part of a larger construction and development project that was overseen by URS Corp., which was the general contractor, and involved Castion Corp. Castion selected LT Technologies and managed its involvement in the project.
“Our selection as the provider for this critically important resource for a strategic U.S. military facility validates LT Technologies’ ability to design, develop and deliver very large and sophisticated water systems for the most demanding customers anywhere in the world,” said Tom Belmont, CEO of LT Technologies. “We at LT Technologies are very proud to be helping our sailors and marines with their important mission. We’re also excited about what this project tells prospective customers and the market in general about our capabilities and strengths. Regardless of how large or far-flung a project may be, we can handle any customer’s water systems needs.”
The system LT Technologies is providing uses reverse osmosis production equipment and state-of-the-art controls to produce clean, potable water for drinking, cooking, bathing and other critical uses. It uses advanced desalination processes with innovative, lower pressure, high-salt rejecting reverse osmosis membranes to produce clean drinking water from ocean water while minimizing energy consumption. Once online, the system will have the capacity to supply the entire military installation.
