Hanson Pressure Pipe recently recognized its Grand Prairie, Texas, facility’s Fittings III department—one of the plant’s busiest areas—for operating 10 years without an OSHA-reportable accident. This accolade is a significant accomplishment in the manufacturing industry and sets a precedent and standard for safe and efficient performance.
The Fittings III department consists of three areas—the gunite, sandblast and paint and loading area—and functions primarily to finalize all fittings before they are shipped to the customer. This department, under supervision of David Ramirez, foreman, has continuously managed exceptional performance, and has done so safely.
“Our department works hard, keeping safety at the forefront of all we do,” Ramirez said. “The accomplishment of 10 years without a reportable accident is a result of a dedicated team and their daily effort. This is definitely a milestone in my career.”
“The Fittings department’s accomplishment is a testimony to Hanson Pressure Pipe’s dedication to achieving sustainability through safety, quality and efficiency,” added Mike Leathers, senior vice president of Hanson Pressure Pipe. “Each team member in our facilities has a given right to return home to their families safely in the same condition as they left the house. Safety is the most important thing.”
Approximately 30 employees make up the Fittings III department core, with almost half of the employees holding positions for more than 10 years.
