YSI, Inc. Acquires Design Analysis Associates

June 12, 2009
Companies share many of the same customers in the water monitoring market

Rick Omlor, president and CEO of YSI, Inc., has announced that Design Analysis Associates, Inc. (DAA) of Logan, Utah, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of YSI. Based in Yellow Springs, Ohio, YSI is an employee-owned company in environmental solutions and services. DAA has been a family-owned business that designs, manufactures, sells and services equipment that measure, record and telemeter hydrological data.

“Because we share many of the same customers in the same water monitoring market, this acquisition is extremely synergistic,” commented Omlor. “As an example, both companies include major water resource and environmental monitoring agencies among our largest users. Our customers will benefit from a seamless integration of product lines that have little overlap.”

William Fletcher, DAA founder, said, “We couldn’t be more pleased to be joining the YSI group of companies. This relationship affords us not only access to international markets, but also capital for new investments. And, we like the fact that YSI has a solid track record of maintaining acquired companies’ cultures and staff, so we know that our name, employees, location and strategic initiatives remain intact.”

Bill Fletcher will remain with DAA as innovator and technical resource; his wife Kathy will remain to oversee human resources, accounting and assembly; Terrell Fletcher will remain as president.
