NACWA and WEF to Host 2009 National Clean Water Policy Forum

April 21, 2009
Local and national leaders to speak at Washington, D.C., event

Organized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the 2009 National Clean Water Policy Forum offers unparalleled access to the latest federal legislative, regulatory and legal developments in the water quality field as well as the opportunity to hear directly from local and national leaders.

Featured speakers will include Lisa Jackson, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other top-level EPA leaders; Paul Marchetti, executive director of the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority; and representatives from both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.

The passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act earlier this year is bringing unprecedented attention to clean water programs, with billions of dollars available for wastewater infrastructure projects. Implementation of this new program will be a prominent focus of the forum as well as giving voice to local and national concerns regarding the future of clean water policy.

Other legislative and regulatory issues that will be covered include Clean Water Act jurisdiction, sewer overflow right-to-know, nutrient control, emerging contaminants, chemical security and climate change. The four-day event will also spotlight new clean water policy leaders in the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress.

The forum is scheduled to be held May 3 to 6 at the Renaissance Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C. For more information, visit www.nacwa.org or www.wef.org.

When: May 3-6, 2009 Where: Renaissance Washington Hotel, Washington, D.C.
