Registration Now Open for WEFTEC.09

April 1, 2009
Event will take place Oct. 10 to 14 in Orlando; no increase in registration rates

Registration and housing is now open for WEFTEC.09, the Water Environment Federation’s 82nd annual technical exhibition and conference. This year’s event will take place Oct. 10 to 14, 2009 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

If it’s about water, it will be at WEFTEC. As the largest water quality conference in North America, WEFTEC continues to grow with each year. The technical program will feature a record number of 122 technical sessions plus 31 workshops and nine local facility tours. A wide range of topics and focus areas allow attendees to design their own unique learning experience while earning up to 35 contact hours for continuing education units and nine professional development hours.

The 2009 focus areas include collection systems, instrumentation and automation, industrial issues and treatment technology/microconstituents, leading-edge research, residuals and biosolids management, sustainability/energy conservation, utility management, water reclamation and reuse, watershed issues and more. As a complement to the technical program, WEFTEC’s exhibition—the largest annual gathering of water and wastewater products in the world—will provide access to the latest developments, research, regulations, solutions and cutting-edge technologies in the field.

Highlights include the Opening General Session, which will feature Dr. Mike Magee discussing how lack of access to potable water impacts public health; the Students & Young Professionals “Wading for Wetlands” community service project that will replant, restore and revitalize part of the wetlands at the Orange County Utilities Northwest Water Reclamation Facility; poster sessions; the design competition; the 22nd annual Operations Challenge competition; and more.

Registration rates will not increase for WEFTEC.09. In addition, WEF is offering a $50 discount towards full conference and exhibition registration to those who book a hotel through the WEFTEC Housing Bureau and register between March 31 and June 1. Visit www.weftec.org for full details.
